Let us know how it holds up. I have a Leupold VariXIII on my CZ 550 Safari Magnum 416 Rigby. I also have a Leupold VXII on my Encore in 416 Rigby. I know the VXII is holding up well on the Encore, I have yet to get to the range with my new CZ.  :D

The Bushnell Elite 4200 is NOT a scope. It's a line of scopes and there are a lot of different models in that line. No one can realistically respond to how well it might fit without knowing which model you got.

But I will say this in generally regarding any of them as a choice for your rifle. The eye relief is a bit on the short side of what I'd want on a rifle with that kinda recoil. Also the Ruger #1 is a kinda weird bird in that the scope needs to be one with extremely long eye relief or the scope needs to be made so the eye bell can be slid way back to allow you to see properly. As a general rule for me at least the Bushnells don't seem to fit the Ruger #1 all that well.

You can't slide them back as far as some and the eye relief is a bit on the short side for a rifle like that.

Good reason to buy a Leupold in my opinion.  :D

GB is right, you need long eye relief scope on a # 1, however Ruger extension Rings help out, by getting the scope back. I have BL 4000 2.5-10x on my 6mm Ruger #1  Now to answer question on about 4200 scopes. I have 5 BL elite scopes,  Their great scopes, a little heavy & long but over all a very well built scope, that cost less then a Leuplod VX-!!!
I have two 2.5-10x,4-16x, 1.5-6x all 4000 or 4200 and one 3000 scope a 4-12x. I would buy them all over agin except the 4-12x 3000. That scope get a little hazy around the edges at 12x.
I think the best scope for a #1 in 416 cal. would be a Vx-!!! 1.5-5X OR if like more power a VX-!!  3-9x shotgun scope, wicked eye-relief on the shotgun scope.

I agree with Redhawk on this one.  The Leupolds generally have the longest eye relief and thus would be a better choice than the Elite 4200s (even though both have excellent optics).

I have a Ruger #1 in 45-70 with a elite 3200 on it, loaded with 350 grain bullet muzzle vel of 2255 fps it kicks like a mule , but I haven't been hit with the scope yet. It's all in the hold. You shouldn't have a problem. Ruger #1 in 416 1-h weight's all most 2 lbs more than mine.
