TM7 - wood stoves and wood pellet stoves are two entirely different critters. The wood stove is strictly a manual operation - you put the wood in, you start the fire, you regulate the amount of air going into the burning box to control the flame and get the amount of heat from the stove that you need, you refill the burning box when it gets low and you clean out the ashes.
A wood pellet stove runs on electricity - it requires electricity to turn the auger to feed the pellets into the burning pot and it requires electricity to power the fans to blow air into the burning pot to get the amount of heat you need to have the stove fans blow the heat into the room. You however have to feed the stove from or with 50 lb bags of pellets and you have to clean the stove. Without electricity though you have no heat - the stove will not run without power.
Pellet fuel stoves are nice - they run cleaner than wood stoves and you don't have the mess that wood creates but they need electricity.
There might exist I believe pellet inserts for fireplaces but I do not think you can convert a wood stove to a pellet stove and vice versa. Mikey.
