Try Steve Ricciardelli's favorite 6mm load.  I tried it in my 788 and not only is it extremely accurate, but the trajectory matches the ballistic dots on the Burris it's wearing. Also, the 85gr HPBT Gameking is truly an awesome bullet on white-tails.  Here's a link to his website if you're not already familiar with it.

Please write me off of GB outdoors, I do not want to be a part of it any more.

I have a Remington VLS in 6mm Rem. and get good results with almost all weight bullets.  The Sierra 85gr. HPBT pushed along by IMR4895 37.9 groups at .46" (5 at 100yds.) with a muzzle velocity of 3100fps.  I seat this one out to 2.93".  With the heavier 100gr. SBT Sierra and IMR4350 42.3grs. I get groups of .53" and a velocity of 2900fps.  With both I use Remington cases.  Either Rem 9 1/2 or Fed.210M primers will do nicely.  Best wishes.

I have two 6mm's and for powders in them that work for me I have best luck with IMR4831 and RL19.  I won't list specific loads for either powder or bullet weights as individual rifles will and do vary as to what they prefer.
Good Shooting,
George

My Ruger #1 in 6mm is partial to 41.0 grs of IMR4064 with the 85 gr HPBT.  Velocity is 3279fps ,book value, but my barrel is two inches longer(26" vs 24") used in the Lyman book.  With the 100 gr Nosler Partition I use 42.5 gr of IMR4350 for around 3143 fps, again that's book value with the shorter barrel.Cases are Remingtion and primers are Rem 9 1/2.  Killed a lot of deer with that load, but all at 100 yds or less.
