For Hunting Use ONLY.....

Strictly for hunting use only which do you prefer, Single Action or Double Action?  For me itÂ’s my scoped Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum that gets the nod.  Lawdog

Since I only have a 44 Redhawk I'll have to say double.  Of course I may buy a Blackhawk next week and change my mind.  There was this SSBH I saw down at.........
I aim to please - but often miss.

:D

Single actions for me...Blackhawk, Vaquero, T/C Encore.
I just like the feel, the natural (for me) pointability, and the "roll" factor for handling the "hot stuff". (as I sit here ironically nursing a scuffed thumb from my .45 Vaquero this A.M.  :) )

I hunt with TC Contenders so they are technically single actions.  In revolvers I've owned three different Ruger single actions and sold them all off, I'm a double action revolver person.

When strictly hunting, it is my TC's all the way. As far as revolvers while hunting, it is usually double action. One of the areas I hunt in involves going into one area and then driving to another. It is easier to load and unload a DA with speedloaders than an SA. But I do like SA's and would never get rid of one.

I use both. I have a BFR in 500 Mag and will be using my S&W460 Mag for deer hunting. I also have my S&W 44 Mag or my FA 454 Casull.  :D  What ever the mood strikes me is what I use.  :D

I use all three, Single Action,Double Action and T/C Contender.

I just can't get over single actions & still dearly love my 1860 army & 36 cal navy colts (cap & Ball of course)
Those single actions seem to get where you can operate them subconsiencly just like the manual transmission in your vehicle (Still have one of those too) :)

I prefer my S&W 29, 8 3\8 for its handling and the way it recoils but I use my single actions more because they can be loaded warmer for hunting and I don't want to harm that 29. I love it. I can't keep it out of the field for very long.

Jerry

I hunt with S&W wheelguns and a Desert Eagle, but I usually cock the hammer and FIRE in single action mode when trying to fill a tag.

I have no preference...I own a single action but that doesn't mean that I would only buy single actions...Although, even if I owned a double action I would still shoot it single action for hunting purposes...

Single action.

I've had a Ruger Redhawk, Colt Anaconda and a Smith 629 and like most people I see with larger caliber DA's at the range or in the field I shot them all single action 95% of the time.

For me it is either SA (Ruger 22, 22mag, 45 or BFR 475) or else it is lever action (Marlin 45/70)  I guess I an an old fart at heart.  Like the traditional stuff but like em in Stainless.  Go figure!

i prefer double action recoil verses s.a..  with that being said,  i hunt with a single action freedom arms 44.

i really liked the way my contenders recoiled with pachmayer grips on, too.

As long as both are quality guns, either. Personally, I prefer the double action grip frames.

Double actions. I like the way the recoil doesn't hurt my elbow.

Well, I gotta edit this, 'cause I just got an Encore! It doesn't hurt my elbow either!

I've used all these as well and prefer double actions in 7.5" SRH 454 Casull or 6" 629 44 mag the most.  I usually carry my 7.5" Ruger SRH 454 Casull with 360gr C/P WLNGC's @ 1520fps because I live where the big bears play.

My single actions right now are 2 s/s 5.5" Ruger Bisley Vaquero's in 45 Colt with 300gr XTP's @ 1280fps that will group 10" @ 100 yards.

I also have 2 10mm's a G20 with a 5" KKM barrel and a Colt Delta Elite with a 6" Barsto barrel. I carry these only when I have a rifle along or I'm jumping in and out of the truck alot.

Both of my hunting handguns are double action. Seems that when we have deer hunting in SD. you have to have gloves on. I guess I am just more comfortable with the double action long squeeze.

I have taken deer with both. I prefer my ruger black hawk with 4.5 inch barrel in 45 long colt.  Effective on deer. Very Compact and carryable. Iron sights. Great gun! Also used cast bullets with 45 lc.
