I bought a pair of cheap rubber boots from tractor supply probably 10 years ago........I think there great.......easy to slip on and off...........I wear them around the barn most every day........One thing about rubber, is it doesn't breath at all, and just isn't going to be as comfortable as a good leather red-wing..............JMHO

Depends on what you do with them. My brother got a pair of Baffin knee high rubber boots last christmas. They have a full wool felt liner and a nylon collar with a drawstring sewed to the top of the boot. Once you put it on you can cinch the drawstring collar down around your leg to keep snow out. I think they cost about $30. They are great for hunting, but if you wear them all day they get a tad clammy even with the liners.

I use a pair of LaCrosse knee high cheapie PVC boots. They were the old Made in USA models, and cost me about $13. They aren't such a good winter boot, but they are great for shallow wading and mucking out barns.

The third pair of boots I might recomend are Sorel type rubber bottom, leather top boot-pacs. I use LaCrosse Icemen made before they outsourced them. They are a big warm pair of boots, but can be hard to fit into snowshoe bindings. I think these cost me $90 when they were new. I prefer these over the all rubber models because the laces make them easier to walk in.

I have 2 pairs.  One is a cheap $15 pair from Tractor Supply.  The other is a $75 par of Rocky Buckstalker Insulated.  Both work great for their intended purpose.  If you put a hole in a cheap pair, you just buy a new pair.

I've been reading a lot about the lacrosse alphaburly boots.  Seems almost everyone that has them loves them.  Good luck in finding something that works for you!
