I guess I'm asking, which ones shoot better,I know about any of them will kill deer at that range, but which ones fly the straightest out of a handi? brand? weight? style?

There's a lot of great ammo out with premium bullets. The new Federal Fusions are getting an excellent report and are priced very well. Then there's Winchester Nosler Ballistic Silver Tip's, Failsafes,  Federal bullets loaded with Nosler Partitions, Accubonds,  Trophy Bear Claw,...etc, Hornady Light Mag ammo, Interlock, ....and on and on. All are great ammo. Pick a couple for your 270 when you get it, and see what it likes.

He isn't one to group his rifle, but from what he has used and what I have shot out of it, the cheap Winchester Super-X 130gr PP shot well from what I remember. But the Fusions cost just a hair more-not much- and will probably perform better, ask Mac. His shoots them very well.

Edit.....and as you can see  :)

Well Thanks

The Fusion ammo is pretty accurate in all of the calibers they are making it in...and they seem to work well in the Handi's...including the 30-30 ammo...so I don't  hesitate to recommend it to anyone...1 brand that seems to spark a-lot of interest with folks is Hornady's Light Magnum stuff...this is some I personally won't recommend...I have had terrible luck with it in every Handi I've shot it in...in my bolt guns,it was just the opposite...it was some tack driving ammo...but for some wierd reason I just can't get it to group in my Handi's...

Good Luck :D

Mac I had the same results with the Lt mags from hornady with the exception of my 7-08 handi, bolt guns love it & BLR's but handies don't like it. Never tried to shoot it again in the 7-08 have to try it again to see if it can be duplicated
That's my boy, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Well there you go. Something else I didn't know. I haven't shot the Hornady Light Mags through my Handi yet, and, well now it looks like I won't be needing too :)  Ya learn something everyday.

My last 270 would shoot them almost as good as what my 30-06 Ultra-Comp would shoot the Fusion ammo...but all my Handi's would vary between 3-1/2" to 5" for groups...velocity was right up there with what it was supposed to be....but that really didn't mean a lot to me...the really only other stuff that gave super poor was those Federal loads that used the Swifts Sirrocco's...they averaged 3" groups...untill I used a kenetic  bullet puller on them and added some over all lenght to the cartridge...then they would shoot close to moa...Besides the Fusion Ammo...for me in the Handi's...the most consistant ammo I've used is the Winchester Supreme ammo with the black lubalox coated CT silver ballistic tip...staight from the box I can gennerally get sub moa with it in all of my rifles......but with the Fusion being about $7-$10 a box cheaper...I'll use it first in the calibers it's offered in now...nothing like getting match grade accuracy from a hunting bonded bullet...

Rifle season comes in here pretty soon and I needed to mount & sight in a scope on my 270.   Took it to the range with several boxes of ammo.  Some to get it on paper and some to do final sight in for hunting.  Got it on paper  & tightened it up with PMC PSP 130gr.  Shot for groups with Winchester Sup. Ballistic Silver Tip 130gr.  Groups were 3-4 inches at 100yds.?.  Surprised, I moved to Federal Sierra Game King BTSP 130gr. and groups tightened right up.

The Ballistic Tips do best from a clean barrel...it's the Lubalox coating on it...once you have it completely clean..try shooting them again...you should have better luck...
