??? about a .223 to .22-250 conversion
« on: November 10, 2005, 08:35:51 PM »
Is there any real reason that I could not take a 24" Bull .223 and ream it to .22-250?

Would a .22-250 in 50-55gr still shoot worth a darn in a 1-12 twist?

just a wild hair up my backside...got me thinking???

Thanks for your ideas..

Hutch, I think It would be a easy job. If I was doing it,
I would get a ejector for a 22-250 or other same size.
Widen ejector slot us easy done with a moto tool.
 Just my 2 cents. Marv.

It would be very easy to do, and a little mod to the ejector would do the trick.  The standard twist rate for a 22-250 is 1 in 14 so the 1 in 12 would work with heavier bullets, probably up to 65gr or so.  I had a 1 in 17 twist 22-250 that would shoot 45gr bullets perfectly.  Different ejectors have different shaped shanks that go under the barrel, so not all will fit all others.  Larry

My Bull barrel 22-250 that I put the Choate Varmit stock on (I Love  those stocks! :-D ) shoots 3/4" groups with the WWB 45 grain Varmit rounds.....
