:  Iam thinking of buying a new Honda Rincon, and i would like to know how everyone likes the auto transmission ,,,and your thoughts on the lack of a low range.... in this quad.... I allways have had my other quads in low range, when putting in the woods,and plowing snow,,  Will i be unhappy without the low range,,,have not ridden one yet,,,,Thanks for all your repleys,,,,,,Bruce...

I disagree.  My dad has a 300 Arctic Cat with IRS and it does not squat or give whatsoever, when attaching a trailer or even a heavy load.  He recently was pulling excessive amounts of wood on a large trailer.  1000 to 1500 lbs easy.  Super low range and just go.  Our friends have a Vinson and the other a, Rincon (which ever is the 500) and both of their straight axle give and also rotate a little, even when using your foot to push down on the hitch and the axle turns (up and down).  The hitch is solid, just their axle giving under pressure.  I have heard of complaints of the new automotive 3 speed tranny that Honda put on their 650.  Engine won't stay low enough, keeps upshift when you need the power.  Never feels like it is in the right gear etc.  My brother-in-law just bought the 650.  However the salesman was very clear, NOT to buy the 650 Honda if you plan on doing work, pulling or pushing..Its tranny is just for riding only!!

I have been down both roads…IRS for me please!

Honest opinion on the Rincon…gutless for a 650…gutless for a 450…gutless period!

weight on a trailer being towed isn't going to have the same effect as weight on a rear rack as far as how it effect IRS/ground clearance.   Good example Polaris Ranger when it used a solid rear axle, you could load the bed to the rated capacity (wouldn't recommend it) and although the suspension sank down some, the ground clearance remained.   The Ranger with IRS can't be loaded to the rated capacity and keep all that ground clearance.  Those 11" become around 3" when 850# is in the bed.  Its just the way the suspension works.  It doesn't make IRS worse than a solid axle, just something to keep in mind when deciding what you want.  Both types have their strong and not so strong points..

The Rincon does seem to be low powered for a 650 engine.  The smoothness of its transmission and overall ride quality more than make up for this. I own a Suziki Vinson manual shift, friend has a Rincon.  On a long all day ride, its amazing how much better I feel if I swap with him for the day.  Lot less tired and beat up.

I ride with a couple Rincons. They go everywhere I go on the Sportsman. The gas mileage the Rincons gets is amazing, too.
