Texas Granny defends her home
« on: November 11, 2005, 05:46:14 AM »
On the television program "Good Morning America" this morning they ran a story about a 66 year old Texas grandmother who defended her home and life with her bedside .38.  It seems that a bad guy broke into her home while she and her grand-daughter were asleep.  The two women were awakened by the intruder's noise and proceeded to search the house.  The last spot they checked was a hallway closet; out jumps the BG and Granny points her .38 and tells him to hit the floor.  He refuses and grabs for her gun.  She put one round in his leg and this seemed to change his attitude.  With that he went out the door and fell on the lawn.  Granny ordered him to stay put but he got up and ran.  She fired a warning shot and he took cover in the neighbors bushes just about the time the police arrived.  They even played the audio tape of the 911 call made by the grand-daugther while all this was going on.  I suspect the BG will give more serious thought to any future home invasions.

Hooray for Granny!!!

And THAT, friends, is precisely why they call it an "equalizer".

That is why I think everyone should have guns in the house. All these home invaders would think twice about breaking in someones home.

Yes, we in Texas are all proud of her, and she is quite the "looker" for 66yrs old....I just hope she doesn't get sued by her attacker..She was shooting at him as he was leaving and wounded him because she didn't want to kill him, not good...The other thing I found interesting was her granddaughter was on the phone with 911 and the 911 operator said, "Tell her to quit shooting, we'll have someone is on the way", quit shooting? can you believe that? If the police haven't arrived, I gonna KEEP shooting..........

Yeah, that is where she could be in a lot of trouble.  Best rule of thumb is. "Any man worth shooting is a man worth killing."   :yeah:   Lawdog

Show me a Texas jury that would rule in his favor and I'll show you a jury full of ex-Left-Coasters.  Given that he broke into HER home, tried to mess with her on her home turf, and lived to tell the tale, he should count his blessings!  I hope they throw the book at him, and I'd be willing to bet this isn't his first "Transgression".  And if the good people of Texas make a loud enough stink, the lawsuit will be thrown out.

I doubt if anything will come of how she protected herself.  She is a hero here,  the NRA has called her and will feature her story in their magazine.

:D Thank god the law makers here in Texas have seen fit to pass laws that prevent criminal charges against anyone that uses deadly force to protect themselves or their property.  This creep may be able to hire a lawyer and sue in a civil court for damages, but I doubt very seriously that a jury would rule in his favor.

My lawyer friend (fishing buddy) has often told me that if I am ever involved in a situation where I had to shoot, then shoot to kill.  First, a dead man can not testify against you.  Second, the courts, when they find a person responsible, rule lighter when the individual is dead than when alive and possibly confined to a wheel chair, etc.

This courageous lady deserves kudos!  Evidently, the liberal news network, ABC and others of that irk are coming around to the idea that codifying criminals isn't working. :gun4:

This is an old post but it is new to me.
If that were my grandma I would buy her a dozen roses, take her out to dinner and then buy here a new box of hydra-shocks.  There should be a parade in her honor!!!
That guy has to be a complete retard, the lady was probably scared to death and warns the guy to get out of the house and then he lunges for the gun. What did you think grandma was going to do, get you some milk and cookies. Center mass grandma center mass

  WAY TO GO GRANDMA

Best news I've heard in a while.
