Well, I took the contender out for the first time today and 5 barrels.
Here is how it went:
7mm TCU 21" Carbine. Fabulous little Rifle. The cases I formed worked fine, I found that the Accurate 2200 Data Powder I had included load data for 7mm TCU! It worked much better than IMR 4895 listed in the Hornady Manual. Easy 1" group at 100 yards. I used some older Sierra 140 BTSP's and the Hornady 139 BTSP. I didn't readjust the seater die, so the Sierra's were a little shorter, but they both shot nearly identical. Good, now I can use up that box of Sierra's that has been lying around for 10 years.
7mm TCU 10" Pistol Barrel. I sighted it in for 50 yards, Iron sights. I kept a 3" group or so with the IMR 4895 loads. Had I not run out of the other other loads sighting in the carbine, it probably would have done better.
30-30 Winchester 10" Barrel. I was using some old loads of my fathers to get started. They obviously weren't good (I think it was a powder sticking problem). Switched to 150gr Remington Factory Core-Lock, and I kept about 3" group at 50 yards, this was had a 4x scope on it. I should have done better, but I moved on.
223 14" Bull Barrel. This barrel was a joy to shoot, iron sights. However, I didn't quite get this one sighted in either, but it's real close, 50 yards again.
22 LR Barrel. I sighted this in for 25 yards, iron sights. It cut holes, sweet little barrel. Lots of fun. I shot probably 50 rounds.
I need to try again with more ammo (and some better ammo), but I can say it was very enjoyable.
Thanks to all for their help on the 7mm TCU, it was simply improperly formed brass. Even the brass not being fireformed shot excellent.
I was so good to go shooting today and not to work.
