If anyone is interested in constructing an underground survival shelter in Colorado as part of a team, let me know.  Your contribution would guarantee you access in the event you ever needed it.

myronman3, not sure how far you are from the ELF site in Clam Falls but it seems that is the closest nuke target to you. Or is the ELF site in Clam Lake? OK, while writing this I did a 10 second google search and found that the site is in Clam Lake. 47.5 miles as the crow flies from downtown Birchwood, measured from downtown Clam Lake, not the actual ELF site.

To be sure someone in the area has an emergency shelter in the works or already done.

Doubt if they would advertise it on the net though.

If a nuke were targeted for either Clam Lake or Falls, it would take more than an underground shelter to save your bacon.

Immediate blast concerns not included, would you want to be within 40 to 60 miles of a nuclear attack?

If one were to have advance warning of a few hours evacuation might be possible. If no warning?

Get right with your God cause it's going to get rough.

i dont think the terrorists are going to be shooting for clam lake- the only thing there is the elk herd.  the elf project is dead.   my work used to involve testing various things related with it,  when it was up and running.     now the area is inhabited by the elk,  i would think the terrorists would want to hit a major metro area,  versus taking out a few elk.

myronman3, still reading but I don't think ELF at Clam Lake is dead yet.

Hope those elk thrive. Maybe after the DNR gets the whitetail population gone the elk will be our species of choice this time of year. But that is off topic for now.

Next nearest good nuke target is the Twin Cities, or maybe Duluth...

I guess my point is worry less about nukes than civil unrest. A terrorist attack might be bad but real local to an urban center. Out in the boonies where you are (at least where I think you might be) these things are a bit less worrisome until they happen and every Tom Dick and Harry from the city comes looking for refuge. That would be my biggest concern.

On edit: the ELF transmitter in Clam Lake was shut down on Sept 30th 2004.
