« on: March 05, 2003, 07:46:14 AM »
Big Bill and All!

I just received an e-mail from S&B concerning availability of the 6.5x55mm Mauser Ammunition:

DEAR SIR:

WE STILL HAVE THIS AMMO AVAILABLE.
THE PART NUMBERS ARE SBA65504 IN A 131 GRAIN SP AND SBA65505 IS A 140 GRAIN SP

IF YOU CAN'T FIND THIS AMMO FROM CHEAPER THAN DIRT, TRY CALLING OUTDOOR-SOURCE AT 1-800-713-1658.

THANKS
savageT........Have you hugged a '99 lately?

Of all the things I've lost in my life, I miss my mind the most.

SavageT did you check the price there?? You will be shocked its closer to $12 a box now. I just ordered more Igman 6.5x55 swede from AIM along with the Igman 8MM soft point they have on special this week. I'm looking into other sources for 7mm mauser too there is "Hot Shot ammo " from Century that is really cheap $6.87 a box for most calibers thats dealer/C&R ffl cost(dealer access prices) not bad prices thats soft point too. I still have plenty of S&B left but when its gone its gone I'd rather reload than pay over $10 a box. I guess its time to switch gears on ammo sources and get the most bang for our buck(i made a funny) but its true.  I'm glad I ordered 10 boxes of ammo everytime I order this way i stocked up with softpoint ammo. I think Igman, FNM and Hot shot is the wave of the newer ammo that is most affordable. I have noticed ammo made here has gotten more expensive the remington stuff is so inaccurate in my '06 and 338 I would never buy it in other calibers to try either. I have had  good success with winchester in my 338winmag but I don't shoot her that often. I guess I'm becomming more FRUGAL now we just have to shop smart!!!!

Actually its the opposite it doesn't hurt our wallets??? I was never frugal till i meet the misses she is one to those coupon people you know $100+ groceries for $35??? She does it all the time, the store manager cringes when she walks in??  She taught me to wait for sales then stockup when we can, we just have to shop smart. It sure pays off to watch for clearances on all gun stuff you just never know what we will find "cheap" and you can be frugal too!!!!!!                            BigBill

Frugal Example: Lets say S&B 6.5 swede ammo costs $8.95 a box and Igman 6.5 swede ammo costs $7.95 a box if you bought 8 boxes of S&B ammo for the same price you could of bought 9 boxes of Igman?? A free box of ammo just for being "Frugal" not bad???

Another one: sportsmansguide.com has 8MM military ammo $79 for 1,000rds and CheaperThanDirt.com has 8MM turk for $74.25/for 1,050rds and  Century just had a sale lastweek 8MM turk ammo $59/1,000rds so which one are you going to buy?? Paying $59/1,000rds thats .06 cents a round?? Its all about savings?? Frugal??

John not really I still buy ammo for my 338winmag @ $27 a box? I just save where i can and spend where I must.                  BigBill :D

I just can't get over how much the '06 stuff costs?? new ammo made here  is over $20 a box?? At southern ohio gun they have russian/barnaul made '06/168gr softpoint $6 a box?? A big difference in prices? The imported ammo will maybe bring the prices of ammo made here down or it will be made over there too just reboxed? Winchester has jumped ship already their metric ammo is S&B in their box so the american saga continues if you can't beat them or compete, buy their product do a joint venture!!! Chrysler was the first with the Jap motors in the caravan way back in Lee Iacocchia days he was a hero bailing out  chrysler by buying jap motors/products?? But thats another story.
