Knight Jag diameter? Could somebody..........
« on: November 12, 2005, 05:29:00 PM »
..........please measure the diameter of their 50 caliber Knight jag for me. My cheap digital calipers are not working, even with a new battery and I have a very nice Canadian fellow that will be making me a couple custom jags and I don't have the exact diameter. Well, now I know one thing that needs to be on my Christmas wish list. Thanks Guys.

Busta I just measured the one that came with my Knight Disc Elite.
It is tapered, the first ring (goes in barrel first) measures .470, next one down is .464, next one is .457 then .451 and the last ring is .445.
I hope this helps

marylandeer,

Thanks a million. What a time for my calipers to puke out on me, but they were cheap and I guess that's what I get.

I guess I never realized that each band was a different diameter, learn something new every day. Stands to reason that the patch is a single thickness up front and gets thicker due to folds as you go back and the jag would need to provide more relief further back to prevent binding. Thanks again and I will send him the information.

[EDIT]
Just went an checked my knight range rod jag and it is obvious even to the naked eye that the bands get smaller from front to back. I did take the calipers and set them at the front band and could really notice the taper then even though I could not get the danged thing to turn on. :x
