Milk jug load?
« on: November 13, 2005, 04:07:45 PM »
Lik2hunt and I were playing around with the 445 supermag today, and may have found a good milk jug rd. I loaded some 180 gr XTP's up with 37 grs. of 296 and was getting 2479 fps avg. It should blow the stuffings out of a jug at that speed. Also loaded some 265 gr. Hornady's with 31.5 grs. of 296 and got 2146 fps. avg. This should realy get a hogs attention. We did'nt get much shooting done because there was a bunch of guys waiting to shoot, and they were much bigger and meaner than us.    Digger

They were just bigger and meaner than me.......and uglier too.....than me I mean.  :)
Prarie Dog load indeed! Can't wait to see the bottom lips laying on the green grass of Hooker Ok when we whip these out and start disentegrating P-Dogs.
The 445 SupMag is proving to be quite the chamber conversion for a Handi. A 265gr. Hornady bullet at so close to 444 Marlin velocities......I'm happy. Hogs BEWARE!

Marv, the case length is 1.6" and I think you take out .3" more of the chamber. The reamer does not touch the sides of the chamber because the chamber is .006" larger than its supposed to be for the 44 mag. Thats why everyone is getting the bulge in front of the web even with my 44 mag loads. I slugged my barrel and it came out .432 like everone else's. Look's like they would catch this in quality control.   The overall length of my 300 gr. XTP is1.925" Mac .   Digger
