Guys/Gals,

I own an Encore chambered for 300winmag. I'm having to discard the brass after loading it 4 times. I've tried neck sizing and full length with the same results. My loads aren't to the max side of the scale.
While this is my first Encore,it's not my first 300. The other one was a bolt action. The primer pockets would expand before any signs of the case separating showed up.

Figgered I'd throw this out there and see if any of ya'll had any ideas. Oh yeah, I did have to send one barrel back for replacement. Cases were separating after the second reload. TC said that the chamber was cut too deep. Ya don't reckon this one may also be on the long side do ya?

How far are you bouncing the shoulders back? If more than 0.001 then that may be you problem.

When I was neck sizing,I wasn't pushing the shoulder back at all. I had the resizer stopping about 2/3 down the neck.

I neck size only which doesn't affect the shoulder. It remains the same as when coming out of the chamber, and my cases last indefinitely. With that in mind quite possibly setting the shoulder back too much with a full length die does have an effect on case life. There are other things that can cause this as well. Hot rodding the velocity won't contribute to long case life either. Best wishes.
