I just went through this same thing earlier this week.  The plug screws are 6X48.  Just make sure you get the short ones without the contured head.  When looking at the screw from the side it should be the same diameter the entire length.  If you use the contured head the screw sets too high on the barrel.   Whoops.  Maybe I should say in my opinion it sets too high.   My barrel is a older super 14, I think the newer ones are the same.   After reading this twice I just noticed you said Encore barrel.  I think they are the same size threads but since I don't have an Encore I won't swear to it.

I found some in the Brownell's catalog. I think they do have a contured head. Has anyone used these screws on their Encore?

I ordered some from Brownells and they are too long.  Order them from T/C.

Order from Ed's Contenders in the sponsor area

I just bought a small bag of these screws for three of my Contender barrels from Ed. You will like the price. He knows exactly what you need.
He normally has a handful of the screw on his workbench or in his tackle box.

I went down to the local gun shop and talked to the LADY that installs scopes and she gave me a bag full for FREE. She said she usually throws them away .
