anybody got any plans for a  royal navy 24 pounder? theyd like to share,

i can swing, 7.75 inches over my carrage, and have30 inches between
headstock and live center,

Read this thread.  Your machine is big enough to do the outside of a 1/4 scale version (30" length) but drilling the bore will be a serious problem.

You can take the tailstock off and drill it like this with the carriage;



No muss, no fuss.

Thanks, a pic is worth a thousand words,

i just got a piece of 4X24 1018 for 25 bucks, so ill be making a 1/5 scale first,

but im looking to build as big as i can get on this lathe, with the biggest bore i can have, for the biggest boom, for my chips,

so next will be a 30 incher, of unknown  bore,

i just finished turning my signal cannon, 2.5 X 9 with a 3/4 bore,

test fired it,  it was foggy out, 930 in the morn,
no wind,
 its loud, but not loud enough,  i used a bread-ball, so i didnt kill any ducks,
