I just shot a bear last night and it was with a 457, so right now, that would have to be my favorite.

Being that the only bear hunting I would or will ever do is black bear hunting, my 444 Marlin with Hornady's 265 gr Flat Point LIGHT MAG ammo or my 280 Rem. with Federal's 150 gr. Nosler Partition or 160 gr. Trophy Bonded Bear Claw will do just fine for me! :grin:

I guess I should update my post. I never used my 444 Marlin, and one of my friends wanted to buy it so I sold it to him. I probably shouldn't have. Just like my Remington 7600 Carbine 30-06 that I sold, I regret it now. So now I'm thinking about getting a 45-70 or a 35 Whelen. If I get a 45-70 it'll be a Marlin 1895. I still don't know which 35 Whelen I would get. I like the Remington's 750 Woodsmaster. I just don't know if I'm sold on it's reliability. I might just try to find a used 7600. I also wouldn't mind another 7600 Carbine in 30-06. I'd use the 45-70 and 35 Whelen for black bear and wild boar hunting. A 30-06 I'd use for black bear, wild boar and deer hunting.

Black Bear over bait -  .30-06 or .308  using 180 grn. Core-Lokt  Soft  Points. That's all you need.
