Which has more felt recoil: Browning BLR in .308 or 30-30
« on: November 18, 2005, 09:03:10 AM »
Which rifle has more felt recoil?  The Browning BLR .308 with the recoil pad or the Winchester 94 30-30 with no recoil pad?

Thanks,

I can give you the exact answer on that, as I own one of each.  The BLR definitely has more recoil, and its not really even close. My BLR is pretty stout with 180gr soft points!

coyotetrapper1929,
The straight stocked BLR in .308 has the greatest amount of recoil to me, with even the .30-30 94 Trapper having less recoil using the 170 grain load (Federal). I am not particularly recoil sensitive, and neither of these firearms has enough recoil to influence my shooting them accurately. Interesting screen name, are you a trapper? If so, the little 16 1/2 inch Model 94 may interest you. I have one in .44 mag, and it is my camp rifle. Flat, short and easy to pack.

Jason280 is right, even with 150 gr bullets in the BLR, and 170's in the 30-30, the recoil is alot worse in the BLR.
