Auction woes!!!
« on: March 06, 2003, 04:07:48 AM »
 Went to an estate auction last night with hopes of picking up a Ruger 41 Mag or Puma 454. Of course these went higher than I could have my FFL holding friend get them for me. There were over 250 firearms, most being handguns. Never thought I'd see the day when a Magnum Research BFR went for more than a FA. Unlucky me didn't bring enough $$ for the FAs which went cheap. The FA 83 555 50 AE premier grade went for 675.00, The FA 83 454 premier grade went 800.00 and the FA 83 475L premier grade, octagon barrel went 1150.00, the FA 97 45 Colt went 575.00 and the FA 97 357 went 550.00. All these were 99% and had 7.5" barrels. There were also an assortment of Gizzley 50 AEs, 475 Wildley Magnums, etc. All these were good deals. Live and learn. The good news is my shooting buddy bought the 475 so at least I'll get to fire one. I'm still the lucky one as he is single but my reasons for not being able to get one is my wife and two girls - my most important hobby :P . Good shooting...RW

Went to an auction like that once, All the stuff I thought was crap was selling for big bucks. The stuff that I thought was pretty nice, but didn't really want was selling cheap. Did pick up a real nice 870 wingmaster,12ga w/vent rib for $180.   KN

Yep, I only been to one gun auction but saw the same thing.  People paying more for some guns than new and others practically being given away.  Guess it all just depends on what the crowd wants.  I am not paying a new price for a used gun myself.
