Got me a nice, young , juicy doe tonite (88# field dressed) with my 15" 7mm-08 Encore using Hornady 139's. About 75 yards,  exit hole on far side rib cage the size of my fist. Burris 2x scope. Now, for a buck!

I hit her in the neck right above the shoulder and she dropped like a bag of bricks. She did not know where it came from.

Poncaguy,

I hit a nice size buck in the mid-neck just in front of the shoulder (quartering toward me) Saturday and he dropped without a step.  It was a close shot since he was only about 10 yards away.

Expected to roll him over and find a large hole on the other side but the Remington Core Loct bullet was mushroomed and at the base of his sternum just under the skins as I prepared to gut him.

Weird bullet action but it sure put him down where he stood.

Congratulations on your harvest.  Knowing what I know now, I sure wish I had taken my .44 mag Encore rather than the .270 rifle.  Would have been an easy pistol shot at that distance.
