scoping my 2240
« on: November 22, 2005, 02:51:54 PM »
i just bought a custom 2240 (as mentioned in my earlier post) in .22 with a 14" barrel and stock.  I put a steel breech on it instead of the standard plastic one to get a solid mounting base.

I want a low power scope with an adjustable objective, but I'm really not sure what to get.  I plan on punching paper often, but I will be killing squirrels and crows too.

I'm looking at a few swift scopes, but they're not of the premier line and I don't know what to expect from them.  Plus, they don't have an AO.

I found a leapers scope called the "bug buster" in 4x with an AO, mil-dot, and illuminated sight for $65.  That seems like an awful lot for such a low price.

I'd love to hear your opinions about these, and your recommendations for any others that you might think are better.  thx.
When the whole world is crashing down around me, atleast I'll have my SKS.

ThudThumper,

Leapers air gun scopes are fast gaining a reputation as being a top notch value for air gunners.  I have two mounted on springer rifles and intend to buy more for any new air rifles I get.  For a review of Leaper scopes go to http://www.americanairgunhunter.com/optics1.html for the story.  Lawdog

thanks, lawdog.

i checked that review and it is a bit convincing.  however, i just bought a 3-9x32 bushnell with an adjustable objective to try out.  i know their more expensive scopes are supposed to be very nice, so i figured i'd give the lower-end it a shot.  the leapers will be my next purchase though, and i'll compare the two.

You can get the leapers scopes cheaper at Scraggle Point suppliy than from Pyrmad. they usually sell the 4x bugbuster for $49.95 and have the non illuminated 4x for $37.50.
