I am around 20 mile east of Springfield & a stones throw from the Sangamon river bottoms. My closest calling site is 300yds from my back door.
I have a daughter living in Marshall & her husband is a teacher/coach at the middle school there.
They report that a neighboor took a 39point buck in the first go around of our reg season.
My late season Deer permit is in Crawford county just south of Robinson which is just 39mile down the road.
Bunch of Yotes down there but kinda far to drive just for them. :D

You guys are stomping around my area, I live in Robinson and work in Flat Rock.  I hunted Clark Co. in the first season and filled both tags, now it'll be Crawford Co. for my muzzle loader tag.

I heard of a very large non typical taken near Annapolis.   The number I heard was 42 pts, probably the same deer.

Agreed
What ya have to do is to spread out your hunting area over a few miles so no one knows the exact location for sure :-D
I knew your were there @ Robinson per earlier post. Nice Country :D

I know thw guy that shot 40 pt deer he lived 200 yds south of the farm I grew up on and comes to our church sometimes.I have not gotten to talk to him but have seen pictures they have at the Walmrt pharmacy in Marshall.  Big deer but I think he should have held out for one of the really big ones they always talk about TV that grow here. HA  He lives down at West Union and shot it down there somewhere I am sure he will be glad to show you the exact area if you ask. NOT

If you are over run with coyotes down at robinson I will come down and help you thin them out. We don't see near as many up this way as we use to. They may be alot smarter than they used to be don't see them out  in the open as much as we used to, at least in the daytime.
I bought a rifle to keep handi while shelling corn so good rifle won't get beat up but never saw even one coyote all fall. Of coarse I don't go out a drive around as much since gas is $2 instead of 70cents.
