HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
« on: November 23, 2005, 04:33:10 PM »
I thank God every day for being born in America. We have more and appreciate it less than any nation on earth. We waste more food daily than many get to eat in a week or more. Tomorrow we will see the homeless on tv eating a hot meal at one or more of the shelters. Don't worry, if you miss seeing them, they will be back at Christmas and Easter. Unfortunately, the hungry and homeless are with us daily, sadly, they are only recognized 3X a year. POWDERMAN.
Mr. Charles Glenn “Charlie” Nelson, age 73, of Payneville, KY passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his residence. RIP Charlie, we'll will all miss you. GB

 powderman.  The homeless is a major problem for this country.  I am afraid there will be even more as American jobs continue to be sent overseas, and illegals take the place of Americans that have been on a job for a long period of time.  The GM plant closings may put even more people on the streets.

While I have a tender spot for most of these folks, many are mental patients, a lot of them are hung up on drugs or booze, but a large number are there by choice.  An organization I belong to assist in a soup kitchen quite often, being there and talking to these folks is a real eye opener.  I could write a book using the stories I have heard from them.  One thing I learned, I never give any of them a cash hand out anymore, I have offered good pay for light work, and have bought several meals, but I no longer contribute to their habit. :(  :(  :(

Homelessness in america has been a problem for longer than most want to admit .

Till our government has the brains to realize that our social welfare system needs a major overhaul the people that need it will never get the help they need .

The thing that bothers me the most are the children that are forced to live like this due to no fault of their own .

And yes unfortunately there are far to many homeless that are that way of their own choosing and way to many that are abusing the system just so they DON'T want to get off their lazy butts and support themselves .
