Left hand Savage or Remington

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience in high power silhouette with the lefthand Savage Hunter Model in 7m 08 with Accu Trigger?  Feedback from righthand shooters is A OK also.

I am seriously looking at a lefthand Remington 700 BDL in 308, just wish there was more selection in caliber and was wondering if Savage was worth considering.

Sure, the Savages work great. Try one of the Accu-Triggers first to see if you can live with the "2 stage" feel. I don't mind it, but lots of folks don't adapt to it well. Remember your choices of stocks for the Savages are more limited than the Remington, and they are harder to bed. But once they're set up they will work fine. Make sure you don't get either one with the injection moulded stock or you'll have to restock it right away. Get a decent stock on it and you'll have something to work with.

Or if you intend to get a real silhouette stock immediately, feel free to buy it with the cheapie "injection molded" stocks as they're cheaper. That will leave you more cash to buy a good stock. You can probably get someone to pay you a few bucks on eBay for it, too.

Oh, count me as a vote for the Savage. I really like the two stage trigger, actually. It makes it easy for me to pull through the first stage and tighten up on the second as the sight picture looks right. It's not as good as the Anschutz two-stage trigger, but nothing is in my mind.
