budget scope for a budget project

Not sure if i'd made my MN rifle project known yet but, the main intention is to put a Mil-dot scope on it and i've got 2 candidates. one is the BSA 4-16x40 Mil-dot or ill ret version
http://bsa-optics.binoculars.com/products/BSA_Optics_4-
16X40mm_33137.html

second is the Tasco 2.5-10 T/V mil-dot
http://rifle-scopes.binoculars.com/products/Tasco_TargetVarmint_2.5-10x42_Matte_Riflescope_21665.html

yea quite budget evident but hey they've both got decent ratings. I'll go through binoculars.com cause they're within easy driving distance from Duluth, MN to Proctor, MN very short i've been there many times when i played hockey for Duluth Lakers.

I have used both. The BSA is a LOT more clearer and sharper than the Tasco in my opinion. Not as dark either.
If this is all you can afford.
 Get the BSA.

BSA is the way to go.  Forget Tasco, pure junk.  They were so before they filed bankruptcy and nothing has changed since they were bought out of bankruptcy.  The only difference is the workers paychecks come from a different place.  You might check out the Leapers scopes.  Very clear and bright.  Go to http://www.tickbitesupply.com/scope.html and check them out and see if they are in your price range.  Lawdog

ya another for BSA, I've heard some good stuff about airgun Leaper's scopes but as for center fire i heard bad junk. I have a BSA already and it's a dream, rimfire .17 mind you but still.

I'm re-thinking the BSA catseye 4-16x50 cause it's still low priced but has more consistant results in reviews as a grand  scope for a hundred ones. No mil-dot but given likly shooting distances it won't be needed.
