Omega trajectory chatrts??
« on: November 25, 2005, 01:47:59 AM »
Been looking for trajectory charts for the T/C Omega. Im using 250 grain Shockwave spire points and 777 (3 pellets). If anyone can help point me towards some info I would be greatful. Thanks.

Omega trajectory chatrts??

I used the BC on Hornady's website and the velocity listed in my Omega manual for 150 gr load for a 250 gr bullet to calculate this. I tried to get it close to 3" high at 100 yds. My program does not let me specify 3" at 100 yds.

Code: [Select]
Load Data
~~~~~~~~~
Name:
Ballistic Coeff: 0.210
Bullet Weight: 250
Velocity: 1853
Target Distance: 150
Scope Height: 1.500
Temperature: 70
Altitude: 500
Ballistic Data
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Range  Elevation  Velocity   Energy     ETA         Drop      Max Y  10mph Wind Deflect
  0 yds   -1.50 in  1853 fps  1906 fpe  0.000 sec    0.00 in  -1.50 in    0.00 in
 25 yds    0.72 in  1771 fps  1741 fpe  0.042 sec    0.33 in  -0.52 in    0.21 in
 50 yds    2.24 in  1692 fps  1589 fpe  0.085 sec    1.37 in  -0.25 in    0.79 in
 75 yds    2.99 in  1616 fps  1449 fpe  0.131 sec    3.17 in   0.23 in    1.69 in
100 yds    2.94 in  1542 fps  1320 fpe  0.178 sec    5.77 in   0.94 in    2.88 in
125 yds    1.98 in  1471 fps  1201 fpe  0.228 sec    9.28 in   1.92 in    4.47 in
150 yds    0.00 in  1405 fps  1095 fpe  0.280 sec   13.82 in   3.21 in    6.52 in
175 yds   -3.12 in  1343 fps  1001 fpe  0.335 sec   19.49 in   4.85 in    9.06 in
200 yds   -7.42 in  1285 fps   916 fpe  0.392 sec   26.34 in   6.87 in   12.00 in

This calculation uses the data given in a 250 SST ad in a magazine. I think it's way too high a muzzle velocity but include it here for completeness. I again tried for a 3" high at 100 yds zero.

omega and 250sst

I also shoot three 777 pellets with the 250sst. My chrono averages right at 2150 - 2170 for 250 sst and Barnes.245 spitfire out of my two omegas. These two projectiles shoot to almost the same point of aim at 100yds. I have to spit patch between each shot to get a 1.5"group.
    I have reloaded my Omegas in the field after killing deer with both projectiles it can be a struggle, make sure you have a good bullet starter with you.
     I prefer the Barnes .245 spitfie over the .250sst seems to penetrate and leaves excellent exit wound without blowing up inside the deer. Either load very lethal.

For a 250 Shockwave/SST at 2150 fps. This one looks like a real easy yd load. Aprox 3" high at 100 yds and 3 1/4" low at 200. I'd verify that at the range but it looks good.

I shoot  a 50 caliber Omega. One of my pet loads is 95 grains by volume of BlackMag 3 and a Precision Rifle Duplex Sabot with 175 grain Dead Center bullet. I am sighted 3 inches high at 100 yards, the drop at 200 yards is 5 inches. I have taken 3 bucks, 2 does, two coyotes and a few hogs with this combo  at ranges as close as 75 yards to over 200 yards with  excellent results.
