TC Contender locking lugs
« on: November 25, 2005, 04:07:13 AM »
I just traded for 2 older octagon barrels. Both the 22lr and 22 hornet barrels have the single locking lug and will not open when installed on my stainless frame. Is there a way to modify the locking lugs, so that the barrels will work on my frame. I sent TC customer service a letter over a week ago and have not received a reply. I am wanting to shot these barrels.
Thanks,
John B.

Give them a phone call.  In the old days they would have routinely sent you a few new lugs just for the asking.  Now they want you to send all your barrels and frame to them for reworking.  But I udnerstand that they have been sending folks lugs.

Even with the new lugs I have had to stone the top and bottom to get some barrels to shoot.  If you have to take it slow and try often so you don't take off to much material.

Good luck!

This is a question more appropriately discussed on the TC Handgun Forum since that's where the folks with the most TC experience are located. The parts you are asking about are NOT called lugs. The lug is the piece welded on the bottom of the barrel and is where the parts you're asking about fit into. The proper nomenclaure is bolts not lugs.

As stated once upon a time TC sent them out free and for the asking. No more. Now you cannot even buy them from TC. But many folks have plenty and will. Check with our sponsor Ed's TC's (click his banner at top of the TC handguns Forums) and I'd bet he will have some you can purchase. Seems no one gives them away free anymore and as stated TC won't even sell them to individuals anymore.

TC customer service came through with 2 sets of split locking bolts. TC customer service is A+ in my book.
Thanks,

Great. Maybe enough of us have raised enough cane with them that they have gone back to the old policy on the bolts.

I did hear that they were again GB.  I wonder how many people they lost as customers before they got it right again.  I know that it is a great deal to have all your frames and barrels serviced but mine are fine thank you very much, and if I just need a couple of bolts (and are even willing to pay for them) I should be able to get them.
