:D Hey there shooters,

Looking for thoughts from those of you that have real life/hands on experiance with the 6.5x20 EFR scope.

I presently have a 3x9EFR scope on my Clark Custom 77/22 and it is a good combination.

Thinking about ringing that extra bit out of the CRuger I have wondered about the bigger scope.

Is the 6.5x20 usable at close range or is it a 50 yard plus situation.

I have only tried one 6.5x20 (not EFR) on a centerfire and it seemed a bit much.

The Leupold 6.5-20x 44mm will focus down to about 33 feet(10 meters).  This scope is very popular with the air rifle crowd due to them focusing down to so close a range.  I have a couple of them on air rifles(Theoben Dual Magnum and Air Arms S410 Xtra) and they are excellent.  I see no reason it shouldn’t get the most out of your Clark Ruger.  Lawdog

:D Thanks Lawdog, think this is the first time we have ever gotton together on any subject.

If the 6.5x20 does OK on your air rifles, surely it would be OK with the .22!

Any feelings about the 4200 Bushnell Elite?

Had some positive feed back that direction over on RFC.

Any scope that will work on "springer" type air rifles will work on any rifle.  Including big bore, dangerous game calibers.  Sorry but I don't think I am the one to comment on Bushnell optics.  I have a problem with their management over a warranty issue.  Lawdog

I don't think you can do better than this Leupold. I have three of them and have used them on a variety of rimfires and at different powers within their X range. All have the target turrets and target dot reticle. I can't find any fault with them.  :grin: Simply, they're the best.

I have a  Leupold Vari-X III 6.5X-20X40mm EFR on an Anschutz 54.18.
I usually shoot at 25 / 50 /100 metres.
Scope is crystal clear, settings are repeatable, parallax corrections flawless.
Also have a target Weaver on my .223.
Weaver is very good Leupold is great.

All I shoot with are Leupold 6.5x20 EFR's for indoor 50' and 100M Silhouette.  I also had two converted to 18x40's EFR's for Silhouette and love all of them.  You can't go wrong with the 6.5x20 EFR they are one of the best.

The 6.5x20EFR is probably the best scope for rimfire shooters who want high magnification.  The optical quality, finish and every thing about is superior.

My only knock would be that there is a lot of eye relief.  My scope sits a little too far forward on my 452 and doesn't look quite right sitting on top of it.  The turrets on mine are over the chamber on my CZ 452.  The eye relief also changes from 6.5 to 20x.  I would prefer that the turrets sit over the bolt/magazine and be centered between the rings.

Hello Edgehit, it has been a few years since I shot the 6.5x20 on that centerfire, but now that you mention it, the changing of eye relief distance with power changes was one thing I didn't like.

Didn't keep it long or the rifle very long so never got used to that.

Anyway, it sounds like for ringing that extra little bit from the CRuger, the 6.5 X20 would be a good one.  

I guess I will put it on the list to be picked up as soon as the "Ship comes in."
