T/C Cherokee .32 Caliber
« on: November 26, 2005, 03:06:22 PM »
I put a T/C .32 Claiber Cherokee in layway yesterday. The gun looks to be in excellent condition, perhaps never even fired.  I have been perusing prices for this gun on the net and it looks like I got a pretty good deal.

What kind of accuracy can I expect? I bought it for plinking and small game. The rifle points very well and it's balance feels excellent.

After putting money on the gun I ran to another shop and bought two packs of .315 round balls, 3F Goex, .32 cal short starter, and some .015 patches.

In the T/C black powder book I picked up, it lists a .32 caliber maxi ball in the load charts. I am having trouble finding a souce on the net. The closest thing I have found are .32 Buffalo Ballets. Any Ideas?

I know, it's not the .50 Caliber flinter I have been looking for, but I fell in love with it the moment I shouldered it.

The .50 flinter may have to wait, as they have a Navy Arms .58 caliber Zoave that I may put on layaway the day I pick this gun up! The wife will be mad-oh well!

Thanks,

Scott.

I had one that I never fired with the fancy stock and double triggers. I shoot the Buffalo Ball-Ets out of my NEF Sidekick and they are great, I reccomend them. I beleive that is going to be a tight fit with the .315 ball and .15 patch. I would have gone .310 ball and .15 patch or .315 ball and .10 patch. Your setup will probably be very accurate, but loading them with that skinny rod can be a pain!! Maybe try to find a range rod that will work for ya to make it easier to load. I beleive the 20-30 gr. 3F is very accurate and good for small game. Jack.

You'll love it! Mine shoots under a "minute of squirrel" as the Woodbutcher calls it. Slayer is correct on the ball/patch combination. I feel sorry for the people who don't own one, their missing out. I recently bought my '82 CVA .32 for $180 in excellent condition.
Quality will be remembered long after price is forgotten

Thanks for the replies.

I had a pack of .010 and .015 patches in my hand and I put the .010 patches back in the interest of "economy."

The T/C black powder book I picked up listed the .315 balls and the shop said that the ball in combo with the .015 patch would be most accurate. I think I will go back and grap a pack of .010 patches and see if there is any loss of accuracy with them.

Can't wait, should be able to pay it off in a week or two.

Scott.
