Is it Possible to...?
« on: March 06, 2003, 07:24:27 PM »
Make the Encore Eject? I read somewhere that T/C used to offer this for the Contender. What would be involved if it is possible? Would a stout spring in front of the extractor do it? Thanks, Sean

They used to have ejector barrels for the contender. I think they stoped making them because nobody liked them. I had one on a 47/70 barrel and it was a pain in the butt. Always chasing spent cases around.  KN

I don't understand why you would have to chase brass all over the place. At the range you could just cup your hand over the breech as you open the action, It is the same thing I did when I had a NEF Handi-Rifle. In the woods I don't really care where that piece of brass ends up if I am trying to get a second shot on a wounded critter. Sean

You have to kind of train yourself to remember to do that. It was obviously a feature that most people didn't like since it was so short lived.  KN

Sean,
Yes it is possible. Whether you are willing to pay someone to do it or spend the time to do it yourself is the question.

You have to fashion a spring loaded "extractor hook" with a catch that keeps it locked in the "closed" position until the chamber clears the thrust plate. Once it clears you can release it with a protrusion on the frame that releases the catch ejecting the round into your shoulder.
