M1A Scout Squad Rifle I Need A Scope???
« on: November 28, 2005, 06:30:26 AM »
I am getting ready to come home form my third deployment to OIF, And I have a heck of a gun in mind to buy. But I need a LER scope for the  M1A Scout Squad Rifle. I am thinking of a Burris hand gun scope because of the 10+ inch LER. Possiable a 3x12 does anyone have good knowledge of these types of scopes, I have never had a handgun scope. So I don't know to much of them. How would it preform for me @ 200+ yrds. If anyone could give me info would appreciate it. YUTT

The Burris is a good scope but check out Leopold.  I believe they carry a line of sout type scopes that would fit your need.  Bushnell also comes to mind.  See if you can access Natchez Shooter's Supply or use some of the listings posted on these sites.  I would expect them all to perform as required to the distance you mentioned.  HTH and good luck.  Mikey.

Thanks for the info, Like I said I don't know much about these types of scopes, Being LER type. I was more worried about the view @ 200+ what it would be like. I check out the ones you mentioned. Thanks for your help. SemperFi

if $$ is no object get a scout style scope. Leupold makes a 2.5x and Burris makes a 2.75x scope. YA 2.75x is highest mag i've ever seen. The intent i think is just enough X to hit out to like 400yrds or so. with a handgun scopes 50yrd parallax and your intent for 200+ shooting a true scout scope would suffice. Burris also makes a 1x scout but ya no mag.

Money is no object for the scope, But if you would look at the M1A Scout Squad Rifle. You would see that I am in need of a LER scope. Because of the mounting position. That is way I had a pistol scope in mind. That way I would have at least 10 in. eye relief. But thanks for the info anyways. Here is the web site to the M1A Scout Squad Rifle

yes i know thats the exact purpose both examples are made for. Just for that purpose. The Ruger M77 Frontier scout rifle and Steyr scout rifle, directly made for scope rails on/above the barrel.
