too many search results-anybody good heavy223 bullet weight?
« on: November 29, 2005, 08:00:11 AM »
I read an old thread about 60 gr VMAX with Fred and Paul5388.  I also read a good one with 63 gr Sierra.  I am looking for a small group shooting paper at 200 yards.  Cheap is good.  What have you guys had good luck with?

I have 2 pounds of BLC-2, some Varget, and a fresh can of 4895.

I shot some Hornady factory loads with the 55 V-Max and they were 4-5" at 100.  I am kind of leary of the heavier bullets as the 40 gr Hornady and the 45 WWB shoot extremely well.  I was planning on some lighter Nosler BT's or some lighter Sierras whichever is cheaper, but what about a heavier bullet?

blue;

Try that Hornady 60gr. V-Max with Varget behind it and a CCI BR-4 primer. Man, that's all I've been shooting out of my three year old Ultra Varmit. It shoots MOA out of it and POI is the same out of a cold or warm barrel. I orginally bought those 60 grainers to shoot out of my AR-15 w/ a 1in9 inch twist, but the box said for use in 1in7 to 1in12 inch twist barrels.
And they were right. no keyholeing at all.
Good Luck.
