Winchester 94AE in 45 colt
« on: November 30, 2005, 05:03:41 AM »
I have five Marlin Leverguns that I love but I've stumbled across a Winchester 94AE in 45 colt, 20" barrel that seems very reasonably priced and I'd like to have a gun in that caliber.

It doesn't look like it's been used much and the wood is nicer than most Winchesters I've seen.

Anyone have one?  How does it shoot?  Is it finicky about ammo?  Any feedback would be very helpful before I puts my money down and walks out with it.

I had one that worked flawlessly with 45 Colt and cartridges that were cut 1/4" shorter.  Others have not had any luck at all and their guns constantly jammed on them.  Others will argue that the action was built for longer rifle cartridges like the 30-30.   Unfortunately, you won't know till you shoot it.   There's simply nothing physical that can tell you if you'll have any problems or not.

Every Winchester 94 that I have had in pistol calibers has cycled and shot perfectly.  I would like to have a 45 LC myself.
