American Made Only
« on: November 30, 2005, 01:04:07 PM »
I have decided to buy only truely American made firerams from this point forward, such as Ruger and Henry Repeating Arms. Do you realize that Remington is now importing guns from both Russia and Yugoslavia? Savage is importing guns from Russia. Marlin is having shotguns made in China ! Mossberg is having guns made in Mexico. Winchester and Browning both have a majority of their guns made in Japan. And many of these companies are bragging about these guns being made outside the US. I say buy Americn made only and my support will go to manufacturers like Henry & Ruger

You forgot that the Savage rimfires are made in Canada...

Anyway, i don't think every part of every Ruger is made in the USA either, and although Rem. does import some guns, not all of them are.  Maybe we should give them more business buying the models that ARE made in the US to encourage them to make more here???

Would you buy a John Deere tractor?????  Most of them "aren't" made in the USA, how about a Toyota?????  Many Toyota's "are" made in the USA, along with Honda's ect....

I'll bet you these days, it's "impossible" to go through life only buying made in the USA!

BTW, many of the "building materials" for houses sold today, also aren't made in the US...

I did buy a John Deere and it's NOT made in the USA, it's made in Japan by Yamar. Bought a Toyota too, it's made in the USA.

These days the name on it has little to offer in the way of knowing where it was made. And darn few if any major items are made entirely with materials from the US.

pattyd2323,

You forgot Weatherby Mark V's are now American made.  As for Toyota & Honda, they are assembled in North America but the parts come from Japan mostly.  At least so says my cousin that works in the Fremont, Calif. plant in the receiving department.  Lawdog

As i sit here typeing this, i'm in Canada and just down the road a bit, there's a Ford plant turning out "American" Fords by the zillion!

My one ton Dodge was made in Mexico, and even the Cummins diesel that's in it doesn't have all American parts in it!

There are a LOT of good products that "aren't" made in the USA, but i do understand the origional posters frustration...

I have a love afair with drillings, can anyone point me to an "American" company that makes one????????????????  ...............  I didn't think so!

I buy American made when I can for most things, but I don't buy an inferior product or pay a huge amount extra for it. As for cars, I actually won't buy a car that was assembled by UAW workers. I had a cousin in that union and now believe that the real reason that the reason that foreign and non-UAW cars are just better is purely because of the UAW union and its leadership. That same cousin puts together cars for a "foreign" company who put in a plant in the US and loves his job. I believe the last quote from him on the subject was, "It's nice to be rewarded for doing a good job building a good car, instead of being ridiculed because I'm making the slackers in the union look bad." According to him, their leadership was worse than the slackers on the line, sucking the blood out of the laborers  when they were supposed to be "protecting" them. I've been on both sides of the "organized labor" issue now, and I think unions are as big a danger to the common worker as not securing our borders is to the national economy. Out of approximately 20 that I've dealth with on one side or the other, only two (one pipefitter union and one carpenter union) actually even got close to doing what they were supposed to do. I currently own an Isuzu Rodeo and a Ford minivan. Want to guess which is much better quality? I'll give you a hint. It's not the Ford, even though I grew up in a "Ford truck" family.

Just looking in my gun cabinet, I have about 60% American-made guns. Of course, a large percentage of those were made quite some time ago, a good half of which before I was born in 1973. I think I have about half of the European countries accounted for by the rest of the guns, and even an Asian country or two. When it comes to guns, I buy quality for the price whether it's made in America or not. I don't buy cheap, as that's just asking for trouble.

No truer words were ever spoken.  You bought any shoes lately?  Next time you're in shoe shopping, try to find a pair made in the US.  If you find one, it'll most likely be made by union labor and will cost you an arm and a leg.

It's a global economy nowadays.  You just can't fight it...

Yes, you can fight it........it may seem futile to most, but we don't have to roll over and play dead.......or stick our head in the sand and give away our way of life..........

The problem with a global economy is we have to raise the standard of living in other parts of the world while not lowering our own.

Another problem is we are financing communist governments and allowing them to build there military at the expense of US consumers......

I'll admit it's tough to find a lot of things that used to be made in America.......and they cost a little more money......But............

The price of freedom never comes cheap!

I urge all of you to read this link carefully:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051204/ap_on_re_as/hong_kong_democracy_protest

These are people who had a democracy, and lost it.......They are now being ruled by a Communist government who I predict will make the organizers pay the ultimate price for freedom.

You want to know why you need to buy american?  Maybe you should ask them.  They now know what they have lost.  I, for one, wish there were something I could do to help them..........but America has no resolve to fight evil around the world anymore.........  Mr. Kerry, didn't learn anything following the Vietnam war........the time for debate was before making the commitment to do what's right.........  every word the opposition mutters strengthens the resolve of our enemies..........and undermines our own cause.......Shame on the detractors of liberty and freedom!

Here's your new world order......looks alot like the old one doesn't it?

Well Pattyd2323, you made a good point (and splash) with your first post on GBO. I'd be more impressed if you could state that everything you own is "Made in the USA!" Don't you own a foreign made TV, DVD player, VHS player, watch, clock, camera, calucator, computer component, car, motorcycle, quad, stereo, radio, clock radio, walkman, clothes, furniture, gamebox or cell phone? I assure you that at my age I have seen a huge change in our economy. And for 25 of those years I was serving from time to time overseas, so I had a chance to see how our economy has been effected while the rest of the world has attempted to catch up, mostly at the expense of the American worker and taxpayer. But, as other posters have already pointed out, we all work and live in a global economy now. I'm sure all of us have slightly different feelings about this. But one thing I can tell you for sure: we need to deal with it!!

Sadly, it is impossible to buy everything with the Made In USA label.  Many of the things we have become dependent on are only made in foreign countries.  And Bill made a good point about American named products made overseas and foreign owned companies making goods in America.  I also try to buy Union made products whenever possible, and that narrows the field even more.  But I think it is a good thing to try and I thank all who try to support American labor and capitol.

I think you'll find that people quit buying "Made in America" because they couldn't afford it anymore! From unreasonable government reg's, to greedy union's that never settle any dispute without higher wages. America first started regulating itself out of business and then priced themselves out of work.

I recall reading some years back that someone was considering a shoe factory in N.Y.C. Then they found out that none of those out of work people there could afford to work in them! They make more money on government assistance!!!!!! Between government and unions, patriot consumers are becoming a dying breed. Who's never shopped in a Wal-Mart? Who's gonna quit if one is close? Where do you think merchandise come's from for the rest?

The problems we have are a lot bigger than where our goods are made and boycotting the good won't fix anything; it'll just leave you doing without or paying out the nose.

Your right victorcharlie, freedom is not cheap and for many "Made in America" is not affordable. The difference is freedom is bought with blood and bullets, "Made in America" with dollars!
