RCBS Sidewinder Case Tumbler
« on: November 30, 2005, 10:10:05 PM »
RCBS Sidewinder Case Tumbler is it really worth the extra $200(almost $200) over the standard RCBS tumbler?
The sidewinder replacement drums cost more than a new RCBS tumbler.

My MidWayUSA tumbler died Sunday (2nd one in 7 years) I feel that’s it time to use another brand.

So I guess the real question is does the Sidewinder benefits really make up for the extra cost?

Just a side note I have no intention on using WET cleaners.

What you guys think?

At least with the sidewinder, you can use dry or liquid media. It has become an expensive tumbler, but I purchased mine in 1985, when it was $119.00. I thought that was expensive then. I have replaced the container once. That used to be $45 but has since increased also.

I also have the Lyman 2200, but the RCBS does a better job of polishing the brass, IMO. I don't know if it's worth the extra $200, but I wouldn't be without it.

One nice thing about the sidewinder if it dies you can send it back to have it fix.  My timer knob broke and they send me a replacement free of charge and I offer to pay for it.  I was about like you every few years buy a new one this tumbler is over 11yrs old now so if I look at my cost spread out over 11yrs vs the replacing every few years I'm dollars  ahead with the sidewinder.  Good luck.
