NEW 209X45 range session!
« on: December 01, 2005, 02:50:38 PM »
Hey Guys
I finally got a chance to shoot my NEW T/C ENCORE 209X45 today 1&28" twist. I installed a NEW NIKON 2X7X33 with Millet rings and headed to the range. I started out with 100gr of PYRODEX RS and 200gr HORNADY SST. It shot pretty good then I increased to 110gr of RS shot a little better. Ran out of daylight so on my next range session ill try the 200gr TC SHOCKWAVES and 100gr's of RS and see what happens. I cleaned between each shot with TC#13. What load are you all shooting in your 209X45s?

I am shooting 100 gr. of triple7 with the 195 gr. Barnes expanders with a 25 ACP breach plug. I am getting 1 1/2 in groups at 100 yards.  :D

Thanks
I notice the PYRODEX RS burns awefull dirty in my 45. Im useing the REMINGTON 209 primers. I have been thinking about trying some of JIM SHOCKEY powder of choice. I think its called AMERICAN SELECT. Anyone have any experience with this stuff in a 209X45?
Thanks :-)

Was at a local gun store today and found 195gr 225gr & 275gr POWERBELT BULLITS. I figured id try the 225gr POWERBELT's  for WHITETAIL DEER before switching powders. So if the weather permits ill hit the range first thing in the morning. My question is what is the MAXIMUM MAG LOAD  with PYRODEX RS loose powder? The data that came with the bullets only shows 777 MAG LOADS. DO I just work up untill I find a sweet spot that the rifle and components agree upon?
Hate to waste bullets working up a load @ nearly $2.00 a pop not includeing powder and primers.
Thanks
