The Indiana Civil Liberties Union got this thru the courts.
A southern Indiana lawmaker sounds off over a federal court decision to take "Jesus" off the podium at state house prayers.

A federal judge says the Indiana House of Representatives can open its sessions with prayer, but those doing the praying cannot mention Jesus Christ or advance a religious faith.

His ruling says people don't have a First Amendment right to use an official platform like the speaker's podium to express their own religious faiths.

The decision did not set well with at least one Wabash Valley lawmaker.

"It's outrageous, said Republican State Representative Troy Woodruff of Vincennes, "Where's it going to stop? At what point are we going to say the utterance of something Christian has gone too far? We really need to take a hard look at where we go from here with this decision."

The suit was filed after lawmakers and lobbyists complained that a minister,  brought in to deliver the opening prayer, began singing "Take a Little Walk with Jesus" and tried to get the House members to join in.

Do you think, Representative Woodruff would defend a Muslim cleric from criticism if he opened a sessions with a prayer that incorporates the Sahada, “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is His servant and messenger”?  After all the prayer is directed to the same God of Abraham.

The iclu is Indianas version of the aclu, which stands for Anti Christian Liars Union. They've stood up for  islam more than once, but not once for Christ. POWDERMAN.

Here are some examples where the ACLU stood up on behalf of Christians; I believe that perpetrating a falsehood would be considered offensive to God also; perhaps before using such absolutes as “never”, you might want to check the facts.  As they say the truth will set you free.

After ACLU Intervention on Behalf of Christian Valedictorian, Michigan High School Agrees to Stop Censoring Religious Yearbook Entries (5/11/2004)

Here is the link: http://www.aclu.org//studentsrights/expression/12845prs20040511.html

Another example

ACLU of Nebraska Defends Church Facing Eviction by the City of Lincoln (8/11/2004)

Here is the link: http://www.aclu.org//religion/frb/16347prs20040811.html

Another example, in this one they joined with Reverend Falwell

In Win for Rev. Falwell (and the ACLU), Judge Rules VA Must Allow Churches to Incorporate (4/17/2002)

Another example, they are appealing on behalf of the man

Michigan Court Punishes Catholic Man for Refusing Conversion to Pentecostal Faith in Drug Rehab Program (7/20/2004)

And here are some more

August 4, 2005: ACLU helps free a New Mexico street preacher from prison.

February 2005: ACLU of Pennsylvania successfully defends the right of an African American Evangelical church to occupy a church building purchased in a predominantly white parish.

December 22, 2004: ACLU of New Jersey successfully defends right of religious expression by jurors.

November 20, 2004: ACLU of Nevada supports free speech rights of evangelists to preach on the sidewalks of the strip in Las Vegas.

November 9, 2004: ACLU of Nevada defends a Mormon student who was suspended after wearing a T-shirt with a religious message to school.

August 11, 2004: ACLU of Nebraska defends church facing eviction by the city of Lincoln.

Thanks, just doing what any card-carrying member of the ACLU would do.  After all somebody has to defend the constitution, the government certainly wonÂ’t.

Have you told the FBI what your reading today?  Never mind they already know.

fe. I'm impressed, if these things are true. I see little, if any, evidence, other than what you said, that they are anything, but what I said. I have no use for the aclu, and certainly see nothing American about them. They seem, in my opinion, to do everything in their power to undermine, and destroy the United States of America, sorta like the dumcraps. If it's morally right, they're against it, If it is morally wrong, they are all for it, again, just like the dumcraps.  I wish they would just disappear, it would be a better world without them.   :x  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x POWDERMAN.  :x  :x

But how do you really feel?  Sorry.

We disagree on a lot of things, Powderman, but most times your position is well grounded.  I also find myself at odds over some of the cause the ACLU has undertaken, such as the Klan and Skokie.

Your religious beliefs seem to be the basis of your morals and ethics and you seem to view them as a superior law to our secular ones, and while I can respect that, one must also realize, that everyone does not hold your religious views.  In the secular world we co-exist in, The Constitution and itsÂ’ acceptance as the basis of our law is the instrument that allows the diversity of the individuals that collective make up the public to be the country we know as the United States.

The Constitution is not for the advancement or protection of any single religion, race, gender, or view, but is to restrain the state or government, in the guise of a democratic majority, from impinging upon the rights of any individual or similar situated group of individuals.  Weaken the protections afford by the Constitution, even if it is popular, puts all of us at risk of losing the protection afforded by the Constitution Thus the ACLU is often advocating for what may appear to be diametrically opposing view points, they are however consistent in maintaining the right of the individual.

My harshest criticism of the ACLU is their seeming inability to find that the Second Amendment is contained within the same Bill of Rights, which they defend so vigorously.   That right is as much an individual right as any contained in the First Amendment and no less Important

Well spoken, fe352v8.

 :-)
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

For a short time after 9-11-01, America was once again, one nation under God. Our president, congress critters, govornors, even mayors of cities large and small were openly praying to God almighty for blessings, and guidance. For a wonderful short while, the aclu hid under a rock, hoping all the praying would go away. They hate prayer, makes em nervous. They can't stand the thought that people miight look to God for guidance. Heaven forbid that morality raise it's ugly head. Right and wrong might then catch on too, can't have any of that now can we. After a few months of wonderful silence, they once again renewed their attack on America. They are anti gun, anti military, anti Christian, pro queer marriage, and pro death, errrrrr, I mean abortion. HMMMMMMMM, I believe I just quoted from the dumcrap platform. I have no use for the Anti Christian Liars Union. They will stop at nothing short of destroying America. POWDERMAN.
