I made a bunch of the little mortars of unknown material.

It is either a hard copper, or maliable brass/bronze, with a tendancy to work harden.  This is good hard material. If you want more info on the material, PM me.

I don't recomend you shoot it or not shoot it.

I'll make up some pen holders for CHRISTmas gifts or something.

The trunnion is hard soldered on the tube.
The bore is drilled 11/16 (.690) and unvented. There is a 1/4" powder chamber by 1/4 inch deeper and radiused.

If you want to vent them use a good quality (not harbor freight) drill bit and sulpherized oil like threading oil from ACE.  You need to drill at low speed with moderate pressure so not to drag and work harden.
Clear chips often.

The vent needs to come out in the center of the chamber.

The vented one, MINE, is drilled.07 for a 1/16" fuse. I will fool with it when the weather breaks here.

I will send three tubes out to the first three to PM me for the cost of shipping (UPS) which should be under $10. including shipping bag.

The base is up to you.

Merry Christmas

Oh yea,

This is aimed at those without a full machine shop like pk and other prolithic builders on here.

Walmart won't say this, but I dare to.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

PM sent from a wannabe cannoneer! I have been extremely impressed with the talents of the many people on this forum.

It looks like a mortar is soon going to have to be part of my black powder arsenal.

I'm going to throw in wood bases, rough sawed out,  slotted, and inletted as well as cap squares.

I recieved an e-mail from Mr, Graybeard himself telling me that I can't give stuff away because it is not fair to the paid site sponsers.

He is absolutely correct in that opinion!

He said it would slide this time, but I had to make my intentions clear for the future.

I am sendind him $150 to make this free offer into a legal transaction.

Merry Christmas!

That is a wonderful thing you are doing. If I was fast enough to be receiving one of these cannons, I'll be sure to "add a little something" along with the cost of shipping. One good deed deserves another.

Your generousity in the spirit of Christmas is noted.  I don't think you giving away a few small trinket mortars will be a threat to our sponsors.  On the contrary, you have offered the mortars only to those that don't have a cannon or mortar.   Once the folks get your Mortar, they will have the bug for sure and our sponsors will be getting orders! All benefit.

Kap, thank you for you kindness to our board members and a very Merry Christmas to you!!

Here they are so far.
The blocks are done.

I thought I'd fool with some lifting handles.
The drilled ones were done on the cnc.

For the un drilled ones, I made a punch and die to fit the old Heinrich punch I bought for something years ago.
I can punch them out quick as a ??? wink?

Now I have to make a bending die for the handles, drill the plates, and do a silver solder job.

Tropico,

Those are fine looking jobs!

Did you steal that cast mortar from me on EBAY? :)

But than again, they probably made a million of them.
