Finally got my new Handi
« on: December 03, 2005, 07:41:17 AM »
After several disappointments, I finally got my new Handi in a 30-30. I had originally ordered a 500S&W, but when the order arrived, it was a 12ga instead. The gunstore tried their best to get the 500S&W, but due to a warehouse error, it was sent to CT by mistake. The dealer there sold it instead of sending it back like he should have, since the gun was pre sold.
I've already thoroughly cleaned the Handi and lapped and polished the bore, added a slip on recoil pad in preparation for its first day at the range .  Now I have to wait for my right shoulder to quit hurting. For what ever reason, I've lost about 30% mobility in my shoulder. They are still running tests to figure out why :(  . I figure if all else fails, I can shoot left handed :gun4:.
I'll give ya an update after I make it to the range. I'll be trying 150gr Silvertip factory ammo and the new LEVERevolution.

Just my .02 , I think you will like the 30/30 better anyhow . a lot easier to shoot and cheaper to shoot too .

Hope the sholder gets better soon , a sore body sure cuts down on range time

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with your 500SW and your shoulder.
I sure hope your shoulder gets better. Well I think 30-30 will serve you well. That caliber has downed many a deer. Seems most guys here have pretty good shootin 30-30 handi rifles here.

I too am sure you will be satisfied with the ol-30-30. They are one of the easier to shoot and less finicky of the Handis it seems.
Lost mobility in you shoulder?
Sounds like a rotator cuff problem to me.
Hope you get to feeling better, and your rifle shoots great for you too.

Sounds like the loss of the .500 purchase was good fortune considering their recoil and your shoulder problem  Hope ya get it fixed as soon as possible.

Stickfigure, with that sore shoulder getting the 30-30 instead may have been "divine intervention" :-D  :-D . The 30-30 will outshine the 500 in many ways, I say count your blessings and ask you report back on your results, especially with the Hornady lever Revoloution ammo, I have been unable to get any anound here, the best so far is some is due in Janurary some time, hopefully....<><....
