Ruger Ranch bullet wt.
« on: December 03, 2005, 01:57:21 PM »
I asked similiar Q. on another section before I found this one. I'm new to all this fourm stuff.

I'll be using a Ruger Ranch 2005 version to reduce predator problems on our farm. Cows, ravens, fox,  and an occassional coyote.

I would like to keep the selection of ammo limited for this one rifle.  Around the fields is heavy timber cover .  Thus most of my shots will likely be under 150 yds. I know the Rancher reputation for accuranc, but I needed a handy weapon to carry on the 5 wheeler or the tractor.

Q. What wt. bullet is best for this short barrel? I want DEAD, not necessarily pelt sales.

Q. What style bullet?

Thank you

The Shepherd.

If your going to reload I would try thr 50 and the 55 gn. Serria Blitz King bullets and go with the ones that group best. If you going to shoot factory ammo try different brands in the 50 and 55 gn. bullets weights and shoot the ones that are the most accurate. DO NOT use full metal jacketed bullets for hunting, only soft point or hollow points.
