i'm modifying the valve on my 2240 to accept an 1/8" brass pipe that runs to a 12oz constant air supply, and i've got myself into a bit of trouble.

i'm trying to drill the hole in the end using a letter Q bit, but i'm not familiar with drilling brass.  i've stalled out my single-speed drill press and my varialbe-speed drill.  i guess i'm using the wrong kind of drill bit, but how can i tell if it is for steel or brass?

Brass is really pretty soft.......are you using a sharp bit with plenty of lube?  Drill rotational speed and the feed rate of the tool might be to fast.........You might post this question on the gunsmithing forum.  Quite honestly, I don't drill a lot of brass.....

i finally got it to work.  evidently that bit just wasn't meant for brass.  i drilled a pilot hole using one of my multi-purpose bits, then just kept drilling it out using the next size up until i got close to the nominal size of my letter Q bit (somewhere around .336" i think).  anyway, it worked just fine as a reamer, lol...

thanks, i'll post these types of problems in the gunsmithing forum from here on out.
