Yellow Ice?
« on: December 05, 2005, 10:33:21 AM »
I was on a frozen lake today with lots of rat houses and a beaver lodge.

But I kept seeing areas where the ice was yellowish and would be very thin.

Is theis mabee an area where beaver and rats are swimming often or just a toilet for something else.

I could also see spots where it would be about 8 in wide and run in a line for 20 feet or so before it hit the bank

What could be causeing the yellow ice?
total for this year so far
3 grinners
2 coyotes
4 coons and
1 skunk

 so far

Ice coloration, can be caused by the differant things in the water.Leaves, stain certain waters as do differant minerals. There may also be springs  where you are seeing the colored ice.
