1894 in .44 Magnum

Once upon a time I had one of these critters.  I find myself thinking about get one again.  How do you folks who have one like it?  Any concerns or problems?  Thanks, Dennis

I picked one up last year at my local gun shop. It's a 1894S, with the straight grip stock. It was used but I don't think the guy who ever had it, fired it. At first it had the famous Marlin Jam. But the gun shop sent it back to the factory for warranty work. It didn't cost me anything. And now this thing shoots like a dream. Also it's got the Micro-groove rifling.
Just the other day I mounted a Tasco 3X9 scope on it just to see how it would group. Shooting Speer 210gr. Gold Dots it's putting them in there at 1-1/2 inches for five shots at 100yds. Came home and took off the scope because I think a scope ruins the look of a lever action. I just wanted to find out what load it liked best.
Now I've got two 1894's, a 44mag and a 41mag. And niether one of them will ever be traded off. I like them that much.  :grin:

I've got one and like it pretty well, but I'd really like to have a .35 Rem instead...

I have a guide gun, and a 1894c...
I reload 300 grain lead bullets...any issues with the marlin??

I want to get a 1894 cowboy in 44, then have it cleaned up abit buy my local smithy...

Also thinking of maybe choppin it back to 16 inch.

I have a Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag.  I once had the famous "Marlin Jam" where I had to dissasemble much of the reciever to free it up.
Has anyone here ever had that problem? I only had it once. It will pop steel targets at 125 yards with no problem - iron sights.

I had an 1894 in 357 for years, thought it was the perfect "all-around" gun, then I got a 44 Mag.  Turns out I was wrong, the 357 is the ultimate FUN gun, the 44 is the perfect EVERYTHING gun.  You can load it light for an afternoon of plinking, mine shoots Specials like it was made for them.  Or you can load it to the limit, and blast a deer, hog or varmint out to 100 yards or better.  My 1894 is stainless, and once it was properly broken in, it's as slick as any lever gun I've ever handled.  An officer I work with shot mine at the club range, and went out the next day and bought one just like it.  It's light, accurate, powerful, and does everything I need a rifle for at 100 yards and under.  Talk about a stress reliever!  When I get home from the range after shooting that little silver beauty, I'm about as mellow as I ever get!  When I used to get cranky, my girlfriend would tell me to "Take two boxes and call me in the morning!"  It worked every time.
