Does any one have a Red Dot scope that has survived the test of time on a handgun in .44mag  or larger? I have tried the bushnell trophy series with O.K. success but gradually the seals came appart, held zero pretty well though.
  The Trijicon reflex sight and the Aimpoint both look good and are MilSpec, cost a fortune though. Hopefully these are not required to do the job for the recoil of hunting loads and lots of practice.
 Both companies say that you would not be able to hold in your hand the amount of recoil thier scopes can handle. I doubt that.

Ultra-dot. I have one on my BFR in 500 Mag and have well over 3000 rounds fired. Holding up just fine.  :D

I've had an Ultra Dot Four Dot 30MM, in a Jack Weigand mount, on a S&W 629 Classic for a couple of years now and it still works like new. Time will tell if it will last forever? I've had my problems with the distributor but, not with the scope itself.

I've had a Millet 30MM on my SBH Hunter for 9 years and haven't had to resight it other than when I changed loads 5 years ago.  I just install a new battery every Thankgiving and I'm good to go.

I have the Ultra-Dot on my 1894C in .357mag and my 1894SS in .44Mag.  They're holding up fine, granted I haven't put too may rounds thru each.  

I also have the variable-dot size version on my S&W 625.  I was shooting once and the dot became a 'slash' and stayed that way thru the end of the session.  But the next time I used it the dot was back to normal.  This may just be a problem with the 4-dot version.  I'll have to wait and see if it happens again.

I don't know how many 44 magnum rounds have been fired under it but a good bunch. Aimpoint 3000 mounting on a Ruger Super Redhawk. I have had zero problems with it.

I have had no problems with holding zero or fogging. However it does like to eat up batteries.

Would I buy an other one? YES !

got a bushnell trophy on my srh 480 and the only thing is i lost the windage
indicator ring so it was a guessing game on how many clicks to
get it right but has held up pretty well.

I had a Millet on my Ruger Redhawk and blew out the dot after less than 40 rounds. I did how ever get great service from Millet. But I would not but one on anything bigger than a 44 Mag. I also blew out a Aim point after 5 shote on my 500 Mag. Aimpoint told me there red-dot was not rated for 454 Casull and up.  :D

I had one on my 9mm. I had it sighted in to 25 yds. It was a lot of fun while I kept it on this gun. Then one day I noticed that it was rubbing the blueing off my gun on the slide sides. So I took it off. :D

I'd be interested to see how well the Mueller Red Dot holds up over the long term...I was thinking of trying one out on a future purchase...

So far, the four Optima 2000's are holding up---S&W 617 22lr, S&W 625 45 acp, S&W 629 44mag, and 1911 45 Super. :roll: Everything will malfunction at some time in the future---Murphy lives! :eek: pg

Had my UltraDot 4 on my .480 for a couple years, sold the gun, but kept that awesome red dot!  It now sits upon my S&W 657, which is loaded with warm, heavy loads, no problemo.  I also use a JPoint sight on my Desert Eagle, which shoots pretty warm loads of Hornady XTPs.
