Back in the 70's when the S&W 44 mag was hard to get and when we could get them they were on the black market for double the price and more. This was when the movie Dirty Harry was playing and everyone wanted a 44mag revolver. I sent Ruger and Colt a letter about manufacturing a revolver in 44mag.
I asked ruger to manufacture it just like the security six(similair) but make it a larger frame with no screws. Ruger got back to me and said they did have plans of manufacturing a revolver in 44mag in the near future.
I asked colt to manufacture a revolver just like the python only larger in 44mag. Colt got back to me and said they had no futre plans on manufacturing a revolver in 44mag. At the time colt wasn't interested but the future proved them wrong at the time they finally got on board and made one too bad took them so long.
Needless to say I purchased two ruger redhawks in 44mag(5 1/2" & 7 1/2"barrels) when they were first available in stainless. My hats off to ruger for their responce and manufacturing the redhawk its an awesome revolver
.
My point is i always wanted a Redhawk in 357mag and 41mag too but they don't manufacture them anymore. I was thinking of sending ruger a letter about this again and i was wondering if more are interested in purchasing them too? I'm hoping to see if there is an interest in it and maybe they will do a short run of them again. I would like to have the heavier frame redhawk in both 5 1/2" & 7 1/2" barrels in 357mag & 41 mag in stainless.
I have also been wondering when Ruger is going to "super size" the super redhawk and make it in 500S&W MAG too?
A model with a 10" or 12" barrel would be awesome. If they counter weighted it under the barrel like the colt python is made they wouldn't need the silly looking muzzle that the S&W 500mag has, sorry but it just doesn't appeal to me. I think having the extra barrel weight up front is the key to controlling the larger caliber they could taper the diameter of the weight towards the front yet still keep the balance in order. I'm waiting to see what Ruger manufactures in 500S&W mag.
What do you think, any opinions???
BTW; I'm a baby boomer and back then cash was tight and i had a young family to think of but i did manage to get two 44's but i missed the 357 and 41. I can't be alone?
