handi forearm stock question?
« on: December 07, 2005, 09:10:04 AM »
i'm replaceg both wood stocks(which the forearm has been floated with the o-ring method previously) with the lighter weight synthetic stocks. when mounting the forearm, i'm having a lot of trouble with a very tight lock-up and almost complete barrel contact with the stock. you can forget running a dollar bill between the stock and the barrel. i even noticed the screw stud does not line up with the screw hole on the stock perfectly. none the less, i've pulled out the sand paper and have started working on the fit. its going very slow. anyone ever had this problem? is this a common occurance?

handi forearm stock question?

I don't care for the synthetic forend for that very reason, there's no way to fit it as there is with the wood forend and separate spacer. As the end of the forend wears, it's gonna get more loose all the time. Some have tried completely bedding the forend, if I were going to try it on the synthetic, I'd fill the empty forend cavity with some sort of epoxy filler like is used for auto body repair, then use Brownell's for the final bedding. To float it, some use different size O-rings, grommets, nail washers and such, along with some sanding. Use what works, no 2 rifles are the same and what works on mine may not on yours, so be flexible.
