Scents for coyote?
« on: December 07, 2005, 01:21:18 PM »
Are scents ever used or appropriate for coyote hunting? I'm talking about scents similar to those used for deer hunting - either cover scents or attractants. For example if coyote and fox compete dirctly for food and territory wouldn't fox urine attract coyotes looking to eliminate the fox invading their territory?

My hunting is done in the Upper Midwest where I am trying to call coyotes into shooting range. Most of it is done in typical Midwest farm country - stands of hardwoods interspersed with corn fields, marsh, pasture, etc.
I haven't had any luck yet, but there are plenty of coyotes out there. Most guys seem to shoot them at fairly close range off of deer stands.

Any experiences with scents to share?

Thanks.
