What do folks here think of the TG votes?
« on: December 08, 2005, 12:10:23 AM »
The SASS site has listed the results of the TG summit.  Mostly, I think the decisions look good for the future of CAS, but I still don't think I'm going to rush out and buy a sack of sequins for the new B Western category. :)

The smoke standard for black powder classes sounds workable, if not perfect.

It'll be very interesting to see where the committee goes as far as approving or banning modifications.

Anyway, there'll be some changes, and it'll all be official in March, unless the WB vetoes something.  Some stuff will be sent back to the clubs for ratification, so make sure you're heard, if there's something that matters to you.

I'd be interested in hearing the opinions of folks on this forum, since it's far more sedate than some others.... :)

 :-D No kidding :-D

Personally I think that the TGs did a pretty fair job. Not perfect...nuthin is...but not bad. Of course, they are only representing what their constituancy thinks The BP standard was a fair and workable solution to a perceived problem that was beginning to arise in SASS. I would have prefered something else, but it's a start down a better road, in my not so humble opinion.

I will be very interested in seeing what the comittee comes up with on the tabled Short Stroke issue! (strongly suspect that it will die in comittee, but that's a whole other issue) For informational purposes I add that NCOWS Congress simply voted them down flat! No ifs, ands, or buts......and while their philosophy is similar to SASS, there are vast differences in some areas! I applaud them for sticking to that philosophy!

The real suprize to me has been the debate over # 10,

Should we change the issue (safety penalty) of empty shells left on the carrier of an
open shotgun or rifle to a no call issue?
which failed! The amount of acrimony over that one, on the SASS website, really caught me by surprize! I would have thought that that one was a no brainer, but some folks will make a fuss about anything! For me, it's a simple safety rule and if yer having problems with it, then ya better get yer gun fixed!
