How do you aquire your surplups?
« on: December 08, 2005, 02:13:06 AM »
Are you an impulse buyer?

Do you have a wish list then go looking?

Do you have a plan and go looking for one gun?

Do you get an idea from others here on what to get?

I always end up making a wish list and i make a new one often too. I try to stick to a plan but i always hit a fork in the road between new modern stuff and go on to something else for a while but i always come back to the affordable fun military stuff.

I have a plan and go looking for one gun, no matter what. :-)

I am not an impulse buyer.  I am not an impulse buyer.   I am not an impulse buyer.  I am not an impulse buyer.  I am not an impulse buyer.

They jump off the table and the gunshow, the rack at the local pawnshop/gunshop, or off the page of the Big-5 Advertizing flyer and into my hand screaming TAKE ME HOME!   I mean what can a guy do if it follows you home and wants to stay in the safety of your gun safes.

Honest!

Am I an impulse buyer?

Well.... Some times I am, I just walk into a shop and it hops right into my arms and screams until I take it home....

But most of the time I have a plan, I have one right now, just need to get all the stuff to make a clone Mosin Nagant PU sniper, real hard to find the mount.... grr....

But the worst part is me trying not to drive over to AIM and beg them to let me wander around in the wharehouse ((Not that they will, but one can always dream right?)(I live less than 10 miles from them... not safe for me   )

I am pretty deliberate about it. I've a pretty good idea what I want before I look. I shop primarily at gun shows now, but scored some pretty nice rifles in Los Angeles at various gun shops.  :D

Decide what I want and go for it

I make a decision about what gun to buy and then focus on getting it.  When I decided to get a model 1903 springfields,  I looked for nearly two years before I found one I was satisfied with.  A lot of those old rifles are worn out and have had hard use and abuse.  To find a nice one, you really have to look.

Need a gun for a specific purpose and look for a milsurp to fill that niche.

All of the above
